Located on a slope, the views are open on almost all sides. Mountain peaks and lush meadows, villages steeped in history, churches and castles characterise the panorama here in Caines. The sun is a constant companion thanks to the East-South-West orientation, which shines from the sky from morning to night.

The view at Sonnenhof wanders from the proud peaks of Ivigna and Hirzer in the northwest over Scena with its imposing castle to the south over the broad meadows and apple orchards of the Adige Valley with the striking “table mountain” Monte Macaion. To the west is Tirolo with its impressive castle and plentiful residences and castles.

A panorama that is rare even for South Tyrol. All the scenic wonders of our country united into one view. That is the Sonnenhof panorama.

So close and always worth it

There is a true jewel of the Alps not far from our house, just a few kilometres out of the valley from Caines. We don’t need to introduce you to Merano. The town uniquely combines time-honoured imperial and royal architecture with a Mediterranean piazza atmosphere. The famously mild weather drew illustrious crowds to this spa town over a hundred years ago.
